1. Steamship Mutual Underwriting Association [Bermuda] Ltd., London
The Steamship Mutual Underwriting Association (Bermuda) Limited Club began writing P&I risks in 1975 and before that the business was written by the Steamship Mutual Underwriting Association, London. Today, the Steamship Mutual Underwriting Association (Bermuda) Limited is one of the larger P&I Clubs worldwide. The current entered tonnage amounts to some 52.8 Million GT for owned entries and total tonnage entered including Chartered entries 83 Million GT.
Crowe BODA has been in close association with the Steamship Mutual Underwriting Association (Bermuda) Limited since 1945 and thus has gained more than 65 years of experience in P&I Insurance. In this capacity, Crowe BODA has been rendering services not only to the major and smaller Indian Shipping Lines, both state owned and private and also to overseas lines whose vessels call at Indian Ports.
In the Indian context, Crowe BODA offers unparallel expertise and experience for handling all types of P&I problems and has extensive infrastructure and human resources available close at hand to be able to offer quick and effective assistance in the event of any incident.
About 40% of the fleets owned by the Indian Shipowners have been insured with the Steamship Mutual Underwriting Association (Bermuda) Limited including a majority share of all the large shipping companies and numerous full fleet entries amongst the other companies.
2. Shipowners Mutual Protection & Indemnity Association, Luxumberg, London
Since 1855, the Ship owners' Mutual Protection and Indemnity Association (Luxembourg) Club has been providing the widest possible P&I cover to owners of smaller/specialised vessels and it currently provides P&I cover to 6,133 Members, the total entered Vessels are 28,227 and total entered tonnage of are 16,583,572 worldwide, and it is the acknowledged market leader for small vessels P&I insurance.
Practically all Indian small and specialised vessels such as mini bulk carriers, barges, tugs, dredgers, ferry and offshore vessels of more than 130 Indian shipowners have been entered with the Ship owners' Mutual Protection and Indemnity Association (Luxembourg) through us.
In addition to claims handling, Crowe BODA is also able to undertake underwriting activities in conjunction with the represented clubs, including renewal negotiations.
